Colocap Pharmaceuticals

In 2005, in partnership with my brother Dr Leon Levitt (who is a Family Practitioner practising in Perth, Western Australia), I established Colocap Pharmaceuticals. Following my own experience in the management of constipation, urgency and incontinence as well as other non-life threatening (but often extremely troublesome) conditions, our aim is to develop a line of products to assist patients with these conditions.

Wherever possible, we use agents with proven track records of safety and that are free from habit-forming effects. Our first product – marketed in Australia as Colocap Balance™ – is encapsulated, dried magnesium sulfate. It conforms to all our prerequisites with respect to safety and freedom from addictive effects.

Colocap Balance™ has already proven to be a successful and popular therapy amongst people with bloating, sluggish bowels and constipation. In my own surgical practice, I routinely use it to assist my patients cleanse their bowels prior to bowel surgery. Its palatability is greatly appreciated by the many, many patients who have struggled through the more usual, unpleasant-tasting solutions used for this purpose, mostly prior to colonoscopy.
